Pierre Radanne is an expert on energy policies aiming to mitigate climate change. In 2004, he founded his own company, named after the French 2050 objective to divide by 4 the domestic GHG emissions: Futur Facteur 4. He was one of the first to express a clear vision on energy issues and how they would evolve in a context of growing environmental challenges. His expertise on these issues led him to work as co-advisor for Dominique Voynet’s secretary, in the Ministry of the Environment and Land Planning.

Pierre has been proactive in the international negotiations for a long time now: he witnessed the founding of the international regime for climate protection in 1992 and actively elaborated on the regime’s architecture in 1997. As one of the leaders of the French delegation, he prepared France for the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol. His expertise in both fields of climate change and energy policies was rewarded when he was appointed President of the French Agency for the Environment and Energy Management from 1998 to 2003.

As a member of the interministerial mission on the Green House Effect, he conducted a long term prospective study. The two-year mission resulted in the realization of “factor 4” scenarios for France, and in the publication of a report, later to become the basis of the POPE Law (programme defining the orientations of the energy policies) in 2005. This law establishes the French commitment to divide by 4 domestic GHG emissions.

In 2004, he founded his private consulting company, Futur Facteur 4 (FF4), and the adventure began… The company is expert on energy policies, offers a technical and political expertise to local authorities, and to major private companies desirous to adapt their strategy to the challenge of global warming.

Due to his experience and his competences, Pierre Radanne likes to act both at the grass-root level, through awareness raising workshops, and at the national and international level, by advising the decision-makers.
